Ponder Before You Post

“…But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”  Luke 2:19 

I know in this age of digital marketing, that our social channels are one of the best tools for us to get ourselves “out there” and share the great things happening in our lives (which I am NOT knocking). But what if some of those special moments or the plans God has revealed to you, were never really meant to be shared, but rather treasured and to allow Him to just unfold in your life?

What if we took a little more time to ponder before we post.

Ponder: To reflect on. Mediate, To think about carefully, especially before making a decision or reaching a conclusion.

Look at Mary, the mother of Jesus, for example. When the shepherds came to her to share the news that the angels had revealed to them, I found her reaction very interesting. Luke 2:19 shows us that “..she treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”  Hmmm. This is a stretch but I wonder if this had happened during our time, if she would’ve posted on IG, Twitter or Facebook?? Lol! And she most definitely had something worthy of sharing!

The lesson I see in this-could we forego the gratification of receiving likes and applause from our “highlight posts” in a social media driven world for the peace of just knowing that we can treasure the promises God has given us in our hearts?

I don’t know. Just a thought.
